I’m not quite sure how to classify Mandola’s Italian Market – a specialty grocery shop? deli or Italian bakery? cafe or ristorante? Whether you’re shopping, eating in, or taking dinner home, Mandola’s is more than a little bit of each, and each bit is worth a visit.
Shopping wise, Mandola’s offers a nice selection of Mediterranean ingredients – spices and sauces, olive oils and a nice selection of wines. You’ll find an impressive selection of meats, cheeses and prepared dishes in the deli. And for eye appeal, along with the pure deliciousness, don’t miss the desserts – gelati and sweet treats from the bakery. Mandola’s is best, however, for an informal, family oriented meal – pizza, salads, paninis and pasta dishes, and their store-baked rustic bread. The atmosphere is lively and bustling, very kid-friendly, especially at the early dinner hour.Best of all is the Mandola happy hour – special prices on a nice variety of Mandola pizzas and appetizers – including an excellent caprese salad, bruschetta and a generous meat and cheese tray.
Mandola’s has locations at the Galleria in Bee Caves, southwest in the Wm Cannon – Mopac area, and, my favorite, at the Lamar – Guadalupe – 45th St Triangle.
